Tonsillectomy Care for the Pediatrician

Before reading this month's State of the Art review by Glenn Isaacson (doi: 10.1542/peds.2011-3857), I was under the impression that tonsillectomy was a rather benign procedure based on its ubiquitous nature. The challenges of anesthesia, airway anatomy and the risks for infection are not trivial. Pediatricians are an integral part of tonsillectomy peri operative care and should learn a lot from this comprehensive review.
